The fourth annual Global Health Initiative benefit dinner was held on Thursday October 6th, 2011 at the Peninsula Chicago hotel. The evening was once again hosted by Bill Kurtis and featured a moving keynote speech from Pulitzer Prize winning author Tracy Kidder. We were delighted to have over 200 attendees come out to support the GHI mission on this special night. Thank you to all who attended as well as to those who have supported the GHI in other ways.
Our third annual Global Health Initiative golf outing/dinner reception was held on Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Evanston Golf Club. We had a record turnout for an afternoon of golf, lessons and/or our dinner reception. Many thanks to everyone who came out for a day of fun in support of our mission! Our third Global Health Initiative Benefit Dinner was held on Thursday October 21, 2010 at the Robert H. Lurie Medical Research Center of Northwestern University. The evening was once again hosted by Bill Kurtis with guest faculty speaker Russell G. Robertson, M.D. We are overwhelmed by the amazing support of all who attended this very enjoyable evening.
The second annual Global Health Initiative golf outing/dinner reception was held on Monday, June 14, 2010 at the Evanston Golf Club. We had even more attendees than our first year and a good time was had by all!
Over 150 patients and doctors attended our September 23, 2009 event, helping us to raise more funding than ever. The evening was hosted by Bill Kurtis, with Dean J. Larry Jameson and Dr. Robert L. Murphy speaking on the vital importance of global health education and the medical school's role in leading the way through its' new Center for Global Health.
Global Health Initiative Invitational - open to colleagues and friends of the physicians of Chicago Lake Shore Medical Associates was held on Monday, June 15, 2009 at the Evanston Golf Club. 150 doctors and colleagues joined us for a relaxing afternoon of scramble style golf or round robin tennis followed by an evening of cocktails and buffet dinner on the terrace.
Our first philanthropic event to benefit the Feinberg School of Medicine – Center for Global Health was held at the Evanston Golf Club on August 25, 2008. Over 100 patients, doctors, FSM faculty and medical students attended. The event was hosted by award winning journalist Bill Kurtis, and took place on a beautiful summer evening complete with live jazz music.
Thanks to the generous support of our patients, the event raised over $229,000.00. GHI supporters included corporate donations from AthletiCo and Forest Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
