Reflections from some of our FSM medical students on their GHI funded travel experiences:
I have learned that primary care, not just in community settings, is unbelievably important. In Ecuador, I witnessed how an effective primary care system greatly enhances the quality of care that patients receive and also can bring down health care costs for the system and patient.

I am more excited to go into the field of medicine and learn more about the field. I am also more confident in my own abilities. I am definitely more motivated to go into medicine so that I can serve those that need it.

Many of the illnesses I saw were 100% preventable if the patients had a better understanding of basic health. The experience showed me just how vital primary care education is.
